Many ads over a 13 year period were placed in national newspapers like the NY TImes and Boston Globe; in smaller city and regional newspapers like the one above; and in national mass market magazines like Life and middle brow peridicals like Popular Mechanics as the execution of the core strategy of the direct marketing business of the Sanson Institute.

The Rottkamp Family Tree
prepared for the
July 2, 1966 Reunion and
subsequent Rottkamp family trees.

William J. Rottkamp, of the family of Bernard Rottkamp, supplied us with the Rottkamp family crest appearing on the cover.

The Samson (sic) Institute of Heraldry of Boston, Mass., assures us of the authenticity of this coat of arms and the reference source is "Planches, de L'armorial General by J. B. Riefstap" (sic) and was originally published in the years 1884 to 1887.

ARMS: "Per pale azure and gules, in dexter a chevron between two mullets of six in chief and a trefoil in base or, in sinister a bull's head cabossed argent."

The field on the left is of pale blue and gold chevron. The right field is red and the bull's head silver.

GULES, Red represents fire, In military application it signifies fortitude.

ARGENT, Silver, this metal represents nobility, peace and serenity.

Azure Blue, the color of the sky, signifying loyalty, fidelity and truth.

Gold represents the most excellent metal and exceeds all others in value, purity, and fineness; the bearer surpassing all others in value.

Chevron: Supposed to have been adapter from the bow of the war saddle which rose high in front.

Mullet Star shaped and significant as a mark of honor and achievement.

Trefoil Flowers or herbs of three leaves, representing the emblem of fertility, faith, wisdom and valor.

Bull: Protection.

A Crest or Coat of Arms is used as identifying symbols for a family name, and are primarily used in the traditional sense. They remain as an interesting historical link with the past generation.
