Saturday, June 29, 1861 Court Proceedings. – The People versus Frederick Deitz. – Indicted for burglary in breaking into and entering a house at Foster's Meadow. The jury acquitted the prisoner.

Saturday, June 06, 1863 Runaway. – On Wednesday of last week, at Foster's Meadow, the horses of Mr. Walter Smith, frightened that the effluvia of the bone dust manure he was using in his cornfield, started off, ran over and hurt Mr. Smith, and did other injury before they were secured, which was only after a long race on the highway.

Saturday, October 27, 1866 Mr. Nicholas Everitt, of Springfield, has had some 15 or 20 fowls carried off recently.
Wednesday, December 19, 1866 Married. At Springfield, by Rev. T. M. Terry, William E. Smith to Lizzie, daughter of Mr. Thomas Foster.
Thursday, December 20, 1866 One day last week, Jennie (aged about 3 years), child of Jacob Foster, at Springfield, Jamaica, was severely burned by its clothes taking fire, that it died on Saturday. We have not learned how the child got on fire, but it is supposed she must have come into close contact with the hot stove.
Wednesday, January 16, 1867 The heaviest fall of snow since 1856 commenced Wednesday night until about 3 o'clock on Thursday afternoon; about 18 inches on the level ground. Sunday another storm with wind and snow filled up the roads and paths again. No eastern mails in a week and only two western mails since the 19th. Mail sent to New York by private conveyance instead of L. I. R. The stage sleigh runs regularly now to and from Brooklyn.
Tuesday, January 29, 1867 Died. At Foster's Meadow, John Van Nostrand aged 94 years and 19 days. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend his funeral as late residence.
Tuesday, January 29, 1867 And old citizen gone. – John Van Nostrand, of Foster's Meadow, died on Tuesday last January 29 in his 95th year. He was born January 10, 1773. He remembered the Revolutionary war. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. He was a man of uniformly correct habits – just and kind in all dealings with his fellow man, and from early life a devout man. He was for 40 years and elder in the reformed Dutch Church of this place. – Jamaica Farmer.
Monday, September 09, 1867 Robberies. On Monday last, Justice Sutphin, of Jamaica, sentenced one George Restine to 4 months imprisonment and County jail for stealing a quantity of clothing from his late employer, Mr. and. Knowwhenbrocker,of Foster's Meadow. – Farmer.
Thursday, January 30, 1868 Died. At Springfield, on Thursday, Ann, wife of Isaac Higbie, aged 53 years 7 months and 15 days.
Monday, February 03, 1868 Died. At the residence of her son-in-law, Mark Wightman, at Springfield, Margaret McPherson, aged 80 years.
Friday, April 10, 1868 The East NY Methodist Conference appointed C.P. Corner as preacher for Foster's Meadow.
Sunday, May 16, 1869 At night, Charles Lumas had his barn robbed of a young horse and a light buggy. Later, the nearby stable of James Dyer of Valley Stream had a set of harness stolen.
Thursday, May 28, 1868 Died. At Springfield, Lavinia Van Nostrand, aged 38 years,? Months, and 2 days.
Saturday, July 25, 1868 Smith Stringham of Central Ave. (n.b. 1/2 mile east FM Road) Foster's Meadow lost his barn after it was struck by lightning.
Friday, January 08, 1869 Thirty-one persons recently united with the Foster's Meadow Methodist Church.
Monday, April 26, 1869 The buildings of Charles Newman at Foster's Meadow were destroyed by fire on Monday morning last. In drawing water from the well to extinguish the fire, the body of Mrs. Newman was found. It is supposed that in her efforts to extinguish the flames, her clothing caught fire and that she threw herself into the well to extinguish the flames

Friday, June 25, 1869 Died: at Franklin Square, on Saturday, June 26; Mrs. Rose Lauer, aged 39 years and 3 months.
Wednesday, August 04, 1869 Andrew Graster was arrested in New York for robbing Foster Meadow farmer Simon Krumenacher of $40 on Friday, July 30th. He was arraigned before Justice Snedecker and remanded to jail for trial.
Monday, August 16, 1869 Died: at Foster's Meadow, August 17, Ms. Ann Whaley, in the 78th year of her age.
Thursday, September 30, 1869 List of Pettit Jurors: drawn at the clerk's office on the 22nd instant, from Jamaica, Simon Krummenacher, William W. Stoothoff.
Tuesday, September 28, 1869 C. Clackett, of Foster's Meadow, was awarded prizes for farm wagons made in the County, and for a wagon hay rack.
Sunday, October 24, 1869 Court Proceedings, October term: Andrew Rutter, indicted for Grand Larceny in stealing property to the amount of $40 from Simon Krummenacher of Foster's Meadow, on 30 July last. State prison 1 year and 6 months.
Thursday, October 28, 1869 Goldsmith's Hotel at Foster's Meadow had Valentine Strants of Brooklyn collapse and die when rising from the table after eating a hearty meal at about 3:00 PM. He had been on a hunting excursion.
Monday, November 01, 1869 The new German church of St. Boniface of Foster's Meadow was dedicated by Vicar General Turner of Brooklyn. He was assisted by the Revs. Huber of College Point, and Farley and Hubbard.
Wednesday, November 10, 1869 A soldier from a Foster's Meadow family stationed at Governor's Island fell from the platform of the rear car of a moving train at Springfield. He was taken severely injured from the Springfield station to his family residence.
